Do you ever just wander aimlessly around the mall wondering what you should get someone? I know that I do almost every year, and I feel silly doing it every single year. It seems like such a commercialized thing when you are forced to give someone a gift, just because it happens to be December. My family and I all kind of feel the same way, so we decided to get a big family gift that everyone would enjoy, and then going in to the community and doing something nice for other people. We all put our ideas for our big family gift in a big bowl, and then drew out one. The winning idea was a satellite TV subscription for everyone, which I got through Direct TV Gaithersburg. Then, we volunteered at a homeless shelter passing out food to those in need. We spent the time that we would have spent wandering around the mall truly helping others. It was such a good feeling, that we decided to do something like it every year!

Found my new favorite minneapolis authentic Italian pizza restaurant today. They had pizza by the slice and the two slices I had were outstanding. Super large probably should have only eaten one of them. The dining area was cozy and not too busy when we went there. Next time I’m going to order the pizza for delivery. I’m surely going to try other items on their menu.

I was wondering what the market was like for renting Calgary apartments and I was surprised with what I found. There are a lot of great properties with breathtaking views on the city available for reasonable prices. My wife and I visited Calgary last summer and fell in love with the city. Now that we both work remotely from home we have really been considering the idea of moving to a new city. Denver and Calgary are at the top of our lists. Both have a great down town area surrounded by beautiful forestry areas and mountains which is perfect for us because we love to ski and love the aspen snow lodge decor for our home.

We have our house on the market right now and have had a few offers and once we find the right buyer we are off to rent in either Denver or Calgary as we transition and look for a home. We are excited to rent again because there are several benefits to renting. First you are anchored by a lease which can be broke. When you have a house you are totally anchored until you sell it which is the case for us right now. We also miss renting for the fact that you can get a great space in downtown where there really isn’t residential homes. We are excited to get back up to Canada again and move into a home right away as we transition into our new lives in Edmonton.

We recently moved into our new home in Denver Colorado and couldn’t be happier. There was a lot of work to be done as well as upgrading some of our decor to fill the new spaces in our home as well as modernizing the old furniture we already had. We decided to go with gold shower curtain hooks to accent the beautiful white shower curtains we picked out. For the bedroom we found this gorgeous queen storage headboard that fits our queen set perfectly. Finally I have a grown ups bedroom with grown up taste. We wanted to keep the living room really modern and clean so we used mostly white and square edges with a few splashes of color for accents. Not to mention having our new flat screen tv mounted on the wall really gives the space a modern feel.

We are celebrating our first Christmas in the new place this year and it should be a great memory to make in our first home. I remember it was hard to find time to go shopping with all the remodeling and moving that went in to setting up the new house. I did however manage to find the perfect gift for my wife this year which I am really excited about because she always picks out the perfect things for me. Take last year for example, she had gotten me a pair or the cole haan penny loafer pairs that I had wanted.

I knew I needed to get an internet connection at home but I wasn’t really sure where to start. I barely knew how to work my cellphone nonetheless get online and research wireless providers but luckily my son Terrence came over and helped. He told me that WildBlue is way faster than Dialup so that was the direction we headed and he picked out a plan for me that he said would more than cover my needs. That’s why I love him…always trying to save me money! Anyway, he gave me a crash course on email and using the web to do some shopping and though I’m still a little leery of typing my credit card number in online I’m getting more used to it. I know my kids really like that I’m able to email now rather than chasing me around on the phone and I feel better about knowing my way around the web, too. I can’t believe it took me so long to do this but you know, when you’re scared of technology you don’t even want to touch it!

My mother called the other day to check in on how our big move went. As we had mentioned earlier we relocated to Denver, Colorado and are finally all settled in. I told her about all of our new favorite spots and how we found a clinic with a doctor we really liked and the kids like him too. We are still looking for a good dentist and my mom told me, “Find a dentist that cares about your teeth more than you do.” So I logged on to SmileGeneration.com and just entered my zip code and instantly a map of reputable dental offices popped up with a map to show me where they were located. It was very simple and I have an appointment next week and I am looking forward to finding a permanent dentist for myself and my family.
